Lady Gaga’s next album is coming very, very soon — and after months of speculation, we finally know what it’s called, too.
On Zane Lowe’s Beats 1 Radio show today (September 15), Gaga phoned in to announce the title and release date of LG5. “The day that the album comes out will be such a day of healing for me and my family,” Gaga said.
It’s called Joanne was the name of Gaga’s paternal aunt, who died of lupus when she was 19. “I feel like [Joanne’s] getting to live the rest of the life that she never got to." Calling from the studio, Gaga also confirmed that the album would be done “in the next 48 hours." A few hours later, she shared the album cover on Twitter.
She offered some details on a few album tracks, too.
Lady Gaga has just revealed the release date and title of her new album.
“Joanne” ― named as a tribute to her late aunt, and as a nod to her own middle name ― will be the singer’s fifth album, and will be released on Oct. Gaga made the announcement on Apple Radio’s Beats 1 on Wednesday.
She also shared the news and the album cover with her followers on social media.
The image is a far cry from 2013’s Jeff-Koons-designed “Artpop” cover.
It shows Gaga looking ahead from the side, while wearing a wide-brimmed pink hat.
