With only a week until 1 November, I am at a loss as to what else I need to do. Jot down one new PB idea a day (you do not have to share these ideas with anyone publicly). In February I am co-sponsoring the Picture Book Marathon. Tara, Pi Bo Id Mo is the cuddly companion to the arduous stress of Nano Wrimo. I look forward to joining, especially since I am taking a leap of faith and leaving the day job to pursue my creative talents full time.
The challenge is to create 30 picture book concepts in 30 days. Ideas may build upon other ideas and your list of potential stories will grow stronger as the days pass.
Tired of watching novelists have all the fun in November with Na No Wri Mo, I created Pi Bo Id Mo as a 30-day challenge for picture book writers. Or just a silly thing like “purple polka-dot pony.” The object is to heighten your picture-book-idea-generating senses.
You don’t have to write a manuscript (but you can if the mood strikes). Daily blog posts by picture book authors, illustrators, editors and other kidlit professionals will help inspire you.
By the end of the month, you’ll have a fat file of ideas to spark new stories.
